Applied Economics Network (ApEcoN)
The Applied Economics Network (ApEcoN) is a working group founded in summer 2018 by PhD students working on a broad range of research topics in the field of applied economics.
The network, founded at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, brings together junior and senior empirical economists from Magdeburg and beyond. The objective of ApEcoN is to further the scholarly exchange among its members and with empirical researchers from other institutions, both national and international.
ApEcoN brings together its members in regular meetings to:
- discuss both work in progress and preliminary research ideas in Peer Coaching Sessions, offering possibilities to initiate joint research projects.
- enhance their presentation skills in Mentoring Sessions, designated to obtain valuable feedback from senior researchers.
- develop and expand in-depth technical skills required to prepare an evidence-based economics dissertation in Toolbox Workshops and PhD Reading Group Sessions.
- organise Invited Presentations by Junior Economists from institutions nearby and afar.
