Career paths in the postdoc phase

The Graduate Academy is the central institution for all postdocs at Otto von Guericke University with questions about the scientific career and alternatives to a career in science.

When describing transparent career paths for postdocs, it should be noted that a maximum of 20 % of PhDs in Germany remain in academia, and of these, a maximum of 5 % obtain a professorship. Therefore, it is an important task of the Otto von Guericke University to promote and show other academic and non-academic career paths in addition to the career goal of professorship.

Scientists with a doctorate go through different phases of qualification in the postdoc phase at OVGU.
