Motivation and goals:

In the phase of academic qualification, there is often uncertainty as to how the further career should and can be planned. In fact, as an academic, you have excellent opportunities to take a career path that suits you and that will inspire you in the long term and lead to inner satisfaction.

The workshop will help you to concretize this path. Based on the professional opportunities that are available with your individual profile, the focus is on the question of how you can realize such options. The seminar is designed to help you consciously plan a career outside academia, i.e. in the private sector or in another professional field.

Contents:

• Career options in business, administration, etc.
• Biographical anchoring of qualifications and skills
• Values as individual “drivers” of career and life planning
• Rules of the game, influencing factors, planning a career in business and elsewhere
• Career aspirations and visions - consistency between aspirations and reality
• Compatibility of career and private life/family
• Building and maintaining professional networks
• Concretization of plannable steps on the way to professional life
• Creative job search - informing and taking action

Next step: application procedure, interview and documents

The aim of the workshop is not to provide a patent remedy for “successful careers”, but to support your individual career planning. In addition to imparting knowledge, there is above all room for reflection and systematically guided development of ideas and their step-by-step concrete implementation.

Free of charge for doctoral students and postdocs in Magdeburg.

Please note that without your timely cancellation of your participation and/or in case of your non-appearance on the day of the event, we would be obliged to claim the pro-rata costs of the event incurred in relation to your person as damages. You are of course free to prove that the Graduate Academy has suffered no damage or less damage than the one claimed.
