BMBF: Contract Prolongations
The German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) has been amended in that a fixed-term employment contract can now be issued for an additional maximum of 12 months if the employment contract existed between March 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021. The details are explained in the "Rundschreiben" (in German). The aim is to compensate disadvantages caused by the pandemic for young scientists.
A separate application must be submitted for this purpose. Please discuss these issues with your supervisor and with the Human Resources Department (K2).
